Dear Center for Star Formation Studies Members,

There will be a 5 day workshop this summer at UC Santa Cruz, entitled "Star Formation in the Galactic Context", organized by the Center. It will be held from Saturday, July 14- Thursday, July 19 (Meeting will start the morning of the 15th). A tentative draft agenda is enclosed below to give you an idea of its content.

This notice is to give you a chance to pre- register for this meeting. We will open registration to the general community on March 16, and after that, we will close registration once we reach our maximum capacity of 125 people. Note that room and board for the whole 5 days costs around $400, and there is a $35 registration fee. There will also be a separate charge for a banquet dinner, which will be in a local restaurant. There is limited funds available in Center funds to support participants. Berkeley students and postdocs who need support should contact Frank Shu, Chris McKee or Richard Klein. NASA Ames postdocs or personnel should contact David Hollenbach, Greg Laughlin or Robbins Bell (we encourage NASA people to commute), Santa Cruz participants should contact Peter Bodenheimer or Doug Lin if they need their lunches and registration covered. We need to assemble a list of those who we will support so that funds can be transferred to the appropriate institutions.

In order to preregister, contact Cathy Clausen at cclausen@natsci.ucsc.edu and ask her for a registration form. At the same time, if you want support, approach the people listed above so that we can generate a list of those needing travel support.
