Center for Star Formation Studies: Postdoctoral Fellow
The Center Fellow is a position we widely advertise (see last advertisement below) in the AAS job directory, Physics Today, and other widely read job listings. It is generally for two years with a third year contigent on funding. It should be stressed that the candidate must be a theoretical rather than an observational star formation researcher. The successful applicant can reside at any of the three institutions associated with the Center: NASA Ames, the University of California at Berkeley, and the University of California at Santa Cruz. Past fellows have gone on to tenure track positions at Johns Hopkins University, Arcetri Observatory, Grenoble Observatory, MIT, the University of California at Irvine and the University of California at Santa Cruz; Past fellows include Steve Stahler, Steve Ruden, Daniele Galli, Pedro Safier, Carolyn Terquem, David Neufeld and Greg Laughlin. Due to cuts in funding, the Center has not had a postdoctoral fellow for the period 1999-2002. If funding is restored, we anticipate advertising a position in the Winter of 2002, for a position extending from 2003 to 2005.

ATT: Dr. David Hollenbach The Center for Star Formation Studies is a consortium of researchers at NASA Ames Research Center, the University of California at Berkeley, and the University of California at Santa Cruz engaged in theoretical studies of all aspects of star formation under the auspices of a grant from the NASA theoretical astrophysics program. Permanent members of the Center are K.R. Bell, P. Bodenheimer, E. Chiang, D. Hollenbach, R. Klein, G. Laughlin, D. Lin and C. McKee. Pending availability of funds, the Center expects to appoint a postdoctoral fellow in the theory of star formation commencing anytime before October 1997. The fellow could be located at any of the three institutions comprising the Center. The position would be for two years, with the possibility of renewal for a third year. Interested applicants should send their curriculum vita, bibliography, a brief statement of research interest and should arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to D. Hollenbach at the above address by February 1, 1997. The University of California is an equal opportunity, affirmative action employer. NOTE! Example only! This is not a current advertisement.
